Solid state syntheses and optical properties of CeVO4-CeO2-V2O5 nanocomposite

Abstract:

CeVO4-CeO2-V2O5 nanocomposites were synthesized via a stoichiometric 1:1 Ce:V molar ratio solid state method, using VO(acac)2 and Ce(NO3)3 as raw materials. The synthesized materials were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) technique. It was found that the obtained materials were in a mixture of CeVO4, CeO2, V2O5 phases. The data showed that CeVO4 was crystallized in tetragonal crystal structure with unit cell parameters a = b = 7.399, c = 6.496 Å and space group of I41/amd (ICCD PDF: 12-0757). Also, V2O5 was crystallized in a tetragonal crystal structure (ICCD PDF: 65-0131). CeO2 was crystallized in a cubic crystal structure with cell parameters of a = b = c = 5.412 Å (ICCD PDF: 34-0394). The morphology of the synthesized nanomaterials was studied by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) techniques. The FESEM images showed that the synthesized materials had porous structures solid state method. The optical property of the as-synthesized nanocomposite was studied by ultraviolet visible (UV-Vis) diffuse reflectance spectrum (DRS).
