The Study of Internet Addiction and its Relation with Quality of Life among High School Students of Gorgan

Purpose: The development of Information Technology (IT) has been important enough to be compared with Industrial Revolution and it was called Internet Revolution. The increasing statistics of psychological internet addiction in addition to its negative effects has been annihilated the positive effects of this great technological movement. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between internet addiction and the quality of life among high school students.Research methods: In the present study, the research method is descriptive and correlational.The statistical population is all high school students of Gorgan in the year 2015, who were selected based on simple random sampling. According to the Cochrane formula, 130 people were selected. For gathering data, Kimberly and Yung internet addiction test (IAT) (Stability = 0.87) and the quality of life questionnaire (SF-8) (Stability = 0.8) were used. In this study, the hypotheses were tested by SPSS18 software. Findings: The findings indicate that there is a significant relation between variables of internet addiction and the quality of life. There was a strong correlation between variables of internet addiction and the quality of life. (r=0/28 ؛ p=0/012) Conclusion: Internet and digital technology have negative officious effects that are considered as new-emerged damages.
