Abstract:
Shock Pulse measurement technique on a gearbox of extruder machine didn’t provide detailed diagnostic information about specific parts damage. To get detailed diagnostic information it was decided other condition monitoring techniques such as mechanical vibration and sound measurement and analysis and oil analysis with Shock Pulse measurement technique to monitor and diagnosis of gearbox defects. They not only confirmed Shock Pulse technique data but also provided more detailed diagnostic information of individual damaged parts. Damaged parts were used up to their maximum life cycle i.e. considerable saving in maintenance costs. It was concluded that staying on a solution may not provide comprehensive diagnostic information.Implementing various condition monitoring techniques increases machine operating reliability and safety and provides reliable decision making tools for maintenance engineers.
