Abstract:
The effects of air stream direction in channels and geometrical characteristics of the system on thermal performance have been investigated here. For this, mathematical model based on the conservation equations of mass, momentum and energy was developed to determine the heat and mass transfer characteristics of the system. A FORTRAN90 code has been developed for modeling the cocurrent, countercurrent and cross flow layouts. Finally the results have been analyzed and mutually compared. The findings show that a higher performance is achieved by using the DEC with cocurrent configuration and the performance of cocurrent type is higher than countercurrent and cross flow types. In addition, the results show the performance of DEC increases by decreasing plate spacing and increasing the wettability of heat exchanger.
