Abstract:
The effect of turbulence model on the simulation of cold swirling flow in a furnace is studied. First, a comparison is made between the performance of the k-ε model and the SSG-ARSM model in simulating the BFS flow field. Then, the simulation is performed for a more complex geometry of a HC-type, water-tube boiler. Comparison between the computational results of the present study and the available experimental data for the BFS case shows that the SSG model is capable of predicting the anisotropy of turbulence in flow field regions where streamline curvature and higher swirling motions present.
