Abstract:

There is evidently a lack of research on how different tasks or materials can affect vocabulary learning of foreign language learners. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of meaning-focused input on learners’ vocabulary learning. For this purpose, 60 male and female participants of 15 to 20 years old were randomly selected by administrating the Oxford Quick Placement test. In this experimental, pre-test-post-test control design research, the learners were put into two groups of experimental and control groups. The book Hey There (Morales, Myers, & Jackson, 2013) was used as the materials to be taught in the treatment phase. The results of the independent samples t-Test showed the difference between the two groups. Using meaning-focused tasks significantly influenced the vocabulary learning of EFL learners.
