Pollutant Standard Index (PSI), Comparing the published and real values in Tehran

Air pollution is a major problem in industrial cities and metropolitans such as Tehran. In this research published and real PSI values are compared by using the hourly air quality data of Air Quality Control Company of Tehran during March 2008 and May 2009. The published data were based on 24 hours fixed average between 11:00 AM and 11:00 AM, while the real values are calculated in a 24 hours moving average method. The results show how the method of calculation can affect the PSI values and its consequences regarding the public awareness.
