Analytical Solution for Interaction between Non-Uniform Piles abstract
Piles group response is affected by pile distance. This paper presents a simple closed form solution to determine the interaction between non-uniform piles in the group. For this purpose,the elastic theory is used to determine load-carrying response of an isolated vertical prismatic pile (source) subjected to axial compression load. Then the model is extended to consider the presence of closely spaced piles (receiver) in the group. The far field settlement of the ground associated with loading the source pile is considered and the corresponding axial force in the receiver pile is computed. The solution has been verified, therefore demonstrating the capability of the approach. The results show that the pile-pile distance in the group, taper angle of piles, the number of piles in a group, and soil and pile material properties are effective on interactionbetween piles.
