Abstract:
A highly efficient and improved synthetic methodology for the preparation of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones in the Biginelli reaction by condensation of β -dicarbonyl compounds, urea and aromatic aldehydes using sulfonated magnetic nanoparticles (SMNPS) as a catalyst. Compared with classical Biginelli reaction conditions, this new method has the advantage of easy reaction conditishortn, time, excellent yields, recyclable green catalyst, and absence of organic solvent. After biginelli condensation, the catalyst could be effortlessly separated by external magnet.
