Abstract:

Today, safety is a very important factor that affects all elements of maritime industry. However, safety management and its implementation in the maritime industry are more important than ever. Present-day maritime industry has a number of codes, conventions and guidelines that set the boundaries of safety and efficiency in shipping. Over the last 40 years or so, the shipping industry has focused on improving ship structure and the reliability of ship systems in order to reduce casualties and increase efficiency and productivity. This development of maritime industry has resulted in the great development of technology, design, size, propulsion and safety of ships. Consequently, the development of new technologies in the maritime industry has brought changes in the education systems over the last few decades.
