Abstract:

Videos enhance the receptive and learning skills and create interest among the students. In this article, the researchers have identified a new practice of using muted video, as a new tool, to kindle the creativity as well as to keep the students on their toes. The researchers have used two classes with same cognitive level to test the efficacy of the tool. In par with the syllabus, the researchers took two fifteen minute videos of cricket for both the groups. Following this, the lectures related to vocabulary, phrases, adjectives in the videos were dealt with in class. After this lecture, for the target group a muted sports video was telecasted, whereas for the common group another unmute sports video was telecasted. The results implied that the target group showed better results with creativity and wrote many sentences, whereas the control group tried to transcript the commentaries in the video. It is clear from the assessment part that the muted video serves better and enhances the creative level of the students. The statistical data proved that both the videos provide significant impact in writing but muted video usage outperformed audio enabled video(AV).
