Abstract:
A new analytical approach for solution of metal forming problems is introduced. This approach is applied for hot strip rolling process with fully-sticking conditions. The first step is to propose a velocity function. The complete velocity field is obtained by using a second order function that represents the horizontal velocity distribution across the thickness. The strain rate components are determined by differentiating the velocity functions. After that, the complete stress field including the distribution of longitudinal, normal, and shear stresses, is acquired by using the Levy-Mises equations. The roll pressure and shear stress distribution in contact surface are also determined. The results of the solution correspond with those of other approaches like FEM. The parameters calculated by the approach can be compared with real values and its results may be used for optimisation of the initial velocity field
