Abstract:
The nonlinear static analysis is mostly used in the performance-based design of structures and it is favored over nonlinear time history analysis. Conventional pushover analyses which is recommended in codes and guideline documents cannot appropriately predict the seismic demand of structures. In order to improve the efficiency of pushover analysis, attempts have been made to develop enhanced pushover procedures. Although these procedures have been applied to building frames, investigations on space structures are less. Therefore, the present study aim at applying pushover methodologies for space structures and validating pushover analyses through comparison with incremental dynamic analysis. In this paper, double-layer barrel vaults roof with vertical double-layer walls is intended to validate pushover analyses. Three different pushover methods have been considered i.e., conventional (first mode load pattern), displacement adaptive pushover (DAP) and modal pushover analysis (MPA). Comparison of static and dynamic analysis results has been done in terms of capacity curves, displacement profiles.
