Abstract:

In modern language teaching institutions and schools, the proficient language teachers apply different kinds oftasks to teach some skills and sub-skills. In the current study, the researcher investigated the effect of twodifferent tasks namely, Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL)-based tasks and written questions taskson students English grammar learning. First, to obtain homogeneous students, the researcher administered apre –validated grammar test to 140 junior high school subjects and according to results, 60 participants werechosen. The participants were divided into two groups, the experimental and the control groups. Theresearchers taught the grammatical rules inductively. As homework, the researcher in the control group askedthe participants to answer the written questions in their workbooks and the participants in the experimentalgroup do their assignments using the computers. Based on the post-test results, both CALL-based and writtenquestion tasks had positive effects on the participants. The study supports the idea that motivating tasks canhave positive results toward language learning.
