Abstract:

This study focused on investigating the relationship between EFL teacher burnout and theirpersonality traits. In order to fulfill the objectives of the study, 40 (20 male and 20 female)EFL teachers with the age range of 83 to 55 were selected through convenient-randomsampling method from private institutes and public schools of Eslam abad-e-Gharb,Kermanshah province, West of Iran. The required data of the study were gathered throughemploying two questionnaires namely Maslach Burnout Inventory Educators Survey andTeachers’ Personality Traits Questionnaire. The former was used to evaluate the participants’level of burnout and the later was applied to assess teachers’ personality traits. To identify therelationship between research variables Pearson correlation was used. Based on the results,there existed a significant and negative relationship between all personality traits exceptneuroticism and private institutes and public school teachers’ burnout.
