Abstract:

Iran’s Desert is among the Iran’s tourism attractions considered by foreign travelers. This area covers great part of east and west of Iran. As it is difficult to cross and due to lack of communicative tools, this area has been remained unknown. It’s inevitably one of the most important sources of History in representation of desert tourism attractions, itineraries and notes of foreign travelers that often because of political missions, they resided in neighboring cities of Iran for some time and they’ve pointed to explaining the situation and conditions of the society and other geographical characteristics of each district in their notes. Austrian traveler and doctor, Alfons Gabriel, is one of the most important travelers of Iran’s deserts that during his three travels compiled two itineraries about specifications and attractions of desert. This study examines and analyzes attraction representations and characteristics of Iran’s desert based on analysis of Afons reports by reviewing the text of these two itineraries. The methodology applied in this research is analytical-descriptive method.
