Asphalt Test

Suitability tests are used to determine the suitability of an asphalt mixture for a specific purpose. They are to be construed as an optimization method with which different variants are investigated and the most suitable one selected. Conventional asphalt mixture variants are investigated in Germany by the Marshall method. Because of its primarily empirical results, however, this method is of limites applicability to the asphalt varieties investigated here. Using the optimized mixture in each , the investigation recommended for further suitability tests are conducted with relation to compactability and stability (rutting test and uniaxial compression pulsating fatigue test). Further, the fatigue behavior is evaluated by the dynamic four-point bending test.
