Abstract:

Series flow double effect LiCl/H2O absorption refrigeration system is analyzed thermodynamically and compared with similar system using LiBr aqueous solution as a working pair. The simulations for LiCl/H2O system are carried out via EES software and the properties provided for materials in the EES database are utilized. Energy and exergy considerations of LiBr/H2O system have been investigated previously. The results of the simulation and data from previous studies are compared, and then advantages and disadvantages of mentioned systems are indicated. These examinations would be useful in the design and control of such systems. The comparison demonstrates wider operational range of water-LiBr system at various generator temperatures rather than water-LiCl system, whereas maximum obtainable COP and exergetic efficiency is much higher for water-LiCl system. Moreover the LiCl/H2O system operates in much lower pressure levels.
