Abstract:
This paper presents applying of Ant Lion Optimizer (ALO) for achieving optimal cross-sectional area of truss structures in order to reach minimum weight. The ALO algorithm is inspired from the hunting mechanism of antlions in nature. This algorithm contains key steps of hunting prey like the random walk of ants, building traps, entrapment of ants in traps, catching preys and re-building traps. The efficiency and capability of the ALO is validated for planar and space truss structures subject to multiple loading conditions and constraints on member stresses and nodal displacement. Optimization results are compared with those reported in the literature.
