Abstract:
Management of pain in cancer patientPain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage. Pain that is not well-managed contributes to suffering whether patients have restorative functional goals orare transitioning into comfort care.In the early and intermediate stages of their cancer diagnosis, 30% to 40% of patients experience unrelieved pain, while 75% of cancer patients in the terminal phase of their disease are reported to experience unrelieved pain.Cancer pain can and should be treated.the first step is:stablish the cause of the pain.Pain be treated by regular medicaition .By mouth, by clock and by the ladder. Pain management:Mild pain:Anon-opioid analgesicModerate pain:Codeine-a weak opioidSevere pain:Strong opioid e.g(Morphin-Buprenorphin-Pethidine-Methadone-Fentanyl etc) NonpharmacologicMusic, art, reading, guided imagery, hypnosisMassage, therapeutic touch,TENS, acupuncture,radiation therapyPresented by:Marzieh Ahmadi.
