Abstract:

Background and Aim : polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), one of the most common causes of infertilitydue to anovulation, affects 4–7% of reproductive women. The aim of this research is to compare the effectof palm pollen with letrozole + tamoxifen on Parameters of Ovary and uterus in infertile polycystic ovarysyndrome women in Jahrom city .Methods : : This comparative clinical trial was done on 60 infertile PCOS women referred to Dr.rasekhclinic with aged 18-42 years. patients were randomly allocated to either case or control group. The controlgroup prescribed letrozole + tamoxifen and Case group palm pollen from third to eighth day of menstrualcycle .Transvaginal ultrasound parameters including Ovarian follicular size , numbers and endometrialthickness were measured during treatment and based of this parameters continue these regimens andprescribed trigger drug.Results : Endometrial thickness in palm pollen groups and tamoxifen+letrozole groups had significantdifference in first visit (P <0.019) respectively but no significant difference in the second and third visit intwo groups. In the first visit, there was a significant difference in the size of left ovarian follicles in caseand control group(P <0.004) ,but in the second and third visit, the left ovarian follicle size in case groupwas larger than control group, without significant difference statistically. In the first visit, there was asignificant difference in the size of right ovarian follicles in case and control group(P <0.001) but, nosignificant difference in second and third visit.Conclusion : because of significant effects of palm pollen on increase of endometrial thickness and size ofdominant follicle, therefore, we recommend , this low costs, low side effect regimen in treatment of PCOSpatients.
