آواتار آوای امر قدسی

اگرچه عقل کلی در وجود آدمی می درخشد، به قدری آدمی از طبیعت اصلی اش منحرف شده که قادر نیست از این موهبت الاهی که در او نهاده شده، بهره ی کامل برگیرد. او محتاج وحی است، وحی تنها چیزی است که قادر است عقل کلی را در آدمی تحقق بخشد و این امکان را فراهم نماید تا به طور شایسته عمل کند.

از روزی که هر آدمی یک «پیامبر» بود و زمانی که عقل کلی «به طور طبیعی» در آدمی عمل می کرد و جایی که او همه ی اشیاء را در لاهوت مشاهده می کرد و صاحب دانشی مستقیم با ویژگی قدسی بود، خیلی گذشته است. عقاید سنتی خود تاکید دارند بر اینکه در ظهور سپسین چرخه ی کیهانی، فقط وحی یا نزول «اوا تاری»(1) است که آدمی را قادر می سازد تا دوباره با چشم دل که «چشم عقل کلی» است، بنگرد. اگر استثناهایی وجود داشته باشند، مثبت قانون دیگری هستند و درهرحال «باد آنجا می وزد که بخواهد». به کارگیری وحی در بعد باطنی اش، دستیابی به سطوح بالاتر وجود آدمی و نیز شعور را ممکن می سازد.(2)

Although the Intellect shines within the being of man, man is too far removed from his primordial nature to be able to make full use of this divine gift by himself. He needs revelation which alone can actualize the intellect in man and allow it to function properly. The day when each man was also a prophet and when the intellect functioned in man “naturally” so that he saw all things in divinis and possessed a direct knowledge of a sacred character is long past. The traditional doctrines themselves emphasize that in the later unfolding of the cosmic cycle it is only revelation or avatāric descent that enables man to see once again with the “eye of the heart” which is the “eye of the intellect.” If there are exceptions, these are exceptions which only prove the rule and in any case “the wind bloweth where it listeth.”
