A survey on design pattern selection

In software development life cycle, the problem of design patterns selection has always been challenging. A software design pattern is a reusable solution for a recurring software design problem. Over the last two decades, numerous software design patterns have been introduced and cataloged on the basis of developer’s interest and skills. However, the existence of a large number of design patterns, the emergence of new patterns and the high level of abstraction makes the selection of a fit design pattern for a given design problem a difficult task. So far, different methods have been proposed to enhance the accuracy of selecting the appropriate design pattern. This paper presents a survey on some of these existing approach.
