Abstract:

In this paper, buckling analysis of the composite body structures of a submarine under external pressure in addition drag hydrodynamic force investigated numerically, using Abacus finite element software. The Albacore geometry of body includes dome, cylindrical main body and cone closure. After verification of numerical procedure by previous researches results in the inquiry, parametric investigation involves laminates layup, fiber orientation, and number of layers is done. The applied loads include pressure due to the presence in the water depth, and shear stress caused by the drag force. The composite bodies are built-up glass fiber and polyester matrix, and hybrid glass and carbon fibers and polyester matrix. It is bearing in mind that matrix of composite should not be sensitive to moisture. The results show that fibers orientation and the number of layers are the key parameters in designing the composite submarine body structures for bearing the bending stress.
