Abstract:

Today, effects of environmental psychology on quality of the environment indicate the necessity of this issue to achieve a favorable environment for users. environmental psychology is one of the new specialized fields which mostly affects the interaction of behavior and physical condition of architecture and space. These effects are more than any other factors. The role of color is one of the subsets of environmental psychology which is vital to save physical and mental health and improve quality of life. Color psychology and its effect on human’s life is an important subject that depends on various environmental factors. Therefore, color is one of the effective factors on a person’s behavior and recognition of its psychological effects leads to exclude the fear of its usage and thus color is found to be quite effective in our designs. Now, due to population growth and urbanization and Users’ aggregation on a limited level and utilizing considerable energy resources in buildings, it is important that the concept of sustainability is considered in designing process and operational level. Because users’ behavior are valuable in achieving objectives of sustainable architecture and pychological aspects and its behaviors are not considered in most of related researches so the following paper tries to consider the link between the areas of psychology and color settings with regard to the goals of sustainable architecture. This research has been done by escriptive – survey method which indicates the effect of color on the environment and human behavior and also help decision makers to eliminate deficiencies in current programs to enhance the quality of life with regard to sustainability and knowing the impact of their plans.
