Abstract:

In the present study, the temperature/pH sensetive chitosan-grafted-poly(N-vinylcaprolactam) (chitosan-g-PNVCL) copolymer was synthesized via free radical polymerization and the Cisplatin anticancer drug has been loaded into the chitosan-g-PNVCL copolymer. The prepared copolymer was synthesized using FTIR, SEM, and UV-Vis analysis. The drug loading effeciecny and drug release from synthesized copolymer uder above LCST, below LCST, acidic pH and physiological pH were investigated. The lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of hitosan-g-PNVCL copolymer was found to be 38 °C. The drug release mechanism is dependent on the both LCST and pH of the system. The maximum cisplatin release from copolymer was achieved at T> LCST (45 °C) and pH of 5. Whereas, the minimum cisplatin release from synthesized copolymer was obtained under T
