Abstract:

The current work demonstrates the preparation of the Fe/g-C3N4 photocatalysts with the different mass ratio of Fe (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 5.0 wt.%) via a facile hydrothermal precipitation method completely in accordance with the principles of green chemistry. The chemical structure, surface compositions, and morphologies of the Fe-doped g-C3N4 samples were well characterized by using XRD, FT-IR, SEM, and UV/VIS techniques. The photocatalytic activity of the synthesized samples was evaluated by the degradation of methylene blue aqueous solution at room temperature under the visible light irradiation. The results of the experiments revealed the improved photocatalytic performance of the Fe/g-C3N4 samples comparing to g-C3N4. The catalyst Fe/g-C3N4 (1.0 wt.%) could degrade 69.8% of MB after 90 min irradiation. It should be ascribed to the separation of the photoinduced electron-hole pairs and migration of the charge carriers to the surface of the catalyst
