Abstract:

By expanding the use of renewable energy sources, the use of power electronic devices has become more important. Today, power electronic converters are extensively used in various household and industrial applications. One of the most common power electronic converters is back-to-back converters family, which is utilized frequently in photovoltaic and wind turbine energy conversion systems. In this paper, a new three-phase AC-DC-AC converter based on the Vienna rectifier and a three-level inverter is proposed, which can operate in unity power factor. This converter can increase the output voltage as a boost converter. A hysteresis-based controller is used to control the rectifier side, and a space vector pulse width modulation is also employed to manage the inverter. A simulation was carried out to verify the theoretical results, and the outcomes illustrated that the optimal switching frequency based on the harmonics can be achieved at 7 kHz. Additionally, the minimum values of the voltage and current harmonic distortion are 25.4% and 0.3%, respectively.
