Abstract:
Today, there is a variety of methods to raise height of embankment dams crest which needs to spend time and exorbitant expenditure. Since researches of previous researchers were very limited to raise height of the embankment dams using geo-synthetics, this project aiming to provide a new method in design and implementation of raising the height of embankment dams crest has been written. In this research, raising the height of the embankment dam crest reinforced by geogrid and geomembrane has been studied so that the effects of various factors such as the optimum distance between geogrid layers, number of layers and type of soil behavior pattern on reducing subsidences and displacements and also safety factor (SF) would be evaluated. The results of the study showed that by reducing the distance between reinforcing geogrids of the dam crest in order to raise height, the rate of subsidence and horizontal displacement is reduced, but reduction is optimum to a certain distance and also in this research, it has been shown that by increasing the number of geogrid layers, subsidence and horizontal displacement of the dam crest is reduced, in this study, geomembrane has been used in order to seal the dam that cause to reduction of subsidence and horizontal displacement apart from sealing
