Abstract:
Drilling is the most commonly used machining process that seems simple at first glance. Nevertheless, it is yet unknown because of its natural complexities. Uneven burr formation speed across burr width, deformation of drill bit’s body and cutting edge and uneven relief angle along radial direction are some of them.Due to this, a comprehensive mathematical model of this process and consequently understanding it can help manufacturers and designers to predict its behavior and important factors.Using Taguchi as a DOE algorithm reduces the required experiments, 32 DEFORM 3D software analyses have been used to propose a mathematical model to predict axial force and torque in drilling process. DEFORM analyses have been validated by actual experiments and then the final mathematical functions have been extracted using neural network algorithm.
