Abstract:

Active terahertz frequency range of electromagnetic spectrum has not been used widely in practice considering its high application potential. Because, no microelectronic or nanoelectronic device is being used commercially to produce THz electromagnetic waves. A THz modulator based on meta-material is designed and simulated using split ring resonator structure and an optimal response is obtained. Modulating signal applied to this structure creates frequency shift, amplitude change and phase delay proportionate to signal amplitude. In this research, high frequency information in THz range is modulated using meta-material and THz modulator based on meta-material is studied and its different aspects including operating frequency, operating speed, resonance response and time are processes.
