Abstract:

In this study, using the limit equilibrium principles and horizontal slices method, there has been delivered the analytical approach to determine the shift of the concrete wall. Accordingly, the effect of wall thickness on the stability of underground structures is investigated. The results of this analysis show that the proposed method has the ability to estimate the shift of the concrete wall. In addition, the new formulation is able to consider all parameters of soil and wall simultaneously. Due to obtained results, the use of the same height of the walls is not so cost-effective; therefore, it is suggested that there has been used on the run from walls with variable heights. Building walls with variable heights compared the walls with the same height is economically cost effective. While the permanent wall deformation, the impact of the increase of the thickness at the bottom of the wall is 40% higher than the impact of the increase of the thickness at the top of the wall. Studies have been conducted in 7 groups that according to the results, two types of ventral and reversal shifts have been observed in underground constructions
