Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to compare the two methods of DEA and AHP to evaluate the performance andranking of Iranian Sports Federations. So, the main goal is to choose the best method to rank the federations.The research method was descriptive-analytical. For this aim, 14 federations were selected. These federationswere selected because they were among the basic sports fields, Medalist and were also used by experts toselect the statistical population. Questionnaire confirmed with the reliability of (81%) and were distributedamong 112 vicepresidents and heads of federations. Organizational performance was evaluated by both DEAand AHP methods. In the years between 2015-2019 the results of DEA method showed that, the Volleyball,Wrestling and Taekwondo federations earned the first rank, second rank, third rank, respectively. Also in theresults of AHP method in this period, the Volleyball, Weightlifting and Judo federations earned the first rank,second rank, third rank, respectively. According to comparison distribution and descriptive indicatorsbetween the two methods, DEA has better ability to ranking the sport federations. Therefore, based on theresults of this study, data envelopment analysis method is recommended to evaluate the performance of sportfederations.
