Abstract:
In this paper, flow of multi-component two-phase compositional fluid is investigated in two dimensional porous media with anisotropic permeability field. The formulation consists of an implicit pressure equation together with an explicit system of mass conservationequations. Fluid model includes effects of compressibility and miscibility while capillary and gravity effects are excluded. A new modified version of the Control Volume Finite Element (CVFE) method, called Control Volume Distributed Finite Element(CVDFE) method, is used for solving parabolic pressure equation. Moreover, a new central scheme, which is called Modified Dominant Wave (MDW), is utilized to solve conservation equations together with the first order Euler time integration. Computational domain contains unstructured triangular and quadrilateral grid cells. Validation of numerical methods is discussed and an anisotrpic reservoir with complex geometry is studied to show capabilities of the proposed numerical procedure. Results approve the ability of the proposed algorithm to satisfactorily predict solutions in very complex problems.
