Abstract:
In the present study attempts had been made to examine the effect of using portfolio on learning course content. To this end, 60 junior students from Islamic Azad University of Kazeroun, Iran, majoring in English were selected via systematic random sampling and were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups, 30 participants in each. The experimental group was taught through portfolio while the control group not. The period of treatment lasted for 10 sessions, each taking 90 minutes. Subsequently, a test based on Ladegfoged (2009) was made and administered to both groups. The data collected was then analyzed via independent t-test using SPSS software. The results of the study revealed that experimental group significantly outperformed the control group as far as course content learning was concerned.So, the finding of the study implies that both teachers and learners may take advantage of portfolio as a very useful teaching and learning tool.
