Abstract:
Worldwide water scarcity causes to improve water management and production in desalination plants. The most advance desalination process is reverse osmosis (RO). In this research, the most effective operating parameter on productivity of a membrane desalination package were recognized. The effect of feed water pressure, temperature, dissolved solid and pH on permeate quality, flow and performance of a small brackish RO package were studied. It has been observed in the experimental runs that increasing the feed water temperature causes an increase in permeate flow and reduces the energy consummation accordingly. Increasing feed water pressure leads to a better productivity but more energy consumption. Total dissolved solid (TDS) and pH have no important effect on productivity of a RO package.
