Abstract:

We studied the length-weight relationship of two important fishes, Parastromateusniger and Acanthopagrus latus in northern coastal waters of the Persian Gulf andOman Sea. Monthly sampling was performed from June 2010 to March 2011usinggill net and gargoor. The specimens transported to the laboratory and theirmorphological parameters were measured before fixation. Body length and weightwere measured to the nearest 1 mm and 0.01gr, respectively. Mean Body length andweight of P. niger (Fork length) and A. latus (standard length) were (29.1 ± 6.7 cmand 760.94 ± 460.82 gr) and (26.7 ± 5.2 cm and 705.63 ± 318.08 gr), respectively. The length-weight relationship of P. niger estimated as W = 0.0645L2.7497 (R2= 0.988), whereas that of A. latus showed different mode as W = 0.0457L2.9218 (R2=0.985).
