Some of the growth characteristics of Barbatula sp. in Dimeh area of the Zayandehroud River

In this study age and growth of Batbatula sp. in the Dimeh area as one of origin ofthe Zayandehroud River, were examined. Sampling was performed monthly during2013-2014 for twelve months and a total number of 440 specimens were collected.Sex ratio was 1:1.43 (male: female). The age of fish were determined 0+ to 5 + forfemale and 0+ to 4 + for male. The maximum total length and weight were recordedfor females 74.66 (mm) and 2.04 (g) and for male 64.78 (mm) and 1.65 (g),respectively. Bertalaneffy parameters based age- size were estimated in female(K=0.211 in a year, L ∞ =111.01 mm and t R°R= -1.62year) and male (K=.0249 a year,L∞ =88.01 mm and t R°R=-1.46 year). The relationship between length and weight wasexpressed in male as W=0.00002 L 2.766 (r2 =0.849) and in female as W=0.00002L 2.574(r2 =0.812). Based on b values, both sexes showed a negative algometric growth.
