Abstract:
To compare the length-weight relationships in Hamri (Barbus luteus) and Lootak(Cyprinion macrostomum), 104 B. luteus and 115 C. macrostomum were caught inAugust to December 2008 in the Karkheh River (Andimeshk). Total length andweight of each fish was measured to the nearest 1 mm and 1 g, respectively. Theaverage Hamri’s total length and weight were 229.932 ± 49.748 (SD) mm and196.705 ± 150.028 g, and 191.282 ± 34.636 mm and 85.882 ± 56.366 for C.macrostomum respectively. The relationship between total length and weight of allB. luteus and C. macrostomum fish was LogW= -1.002 + 3.09 Log L, LogW = -1.62+ 2.84 Log L, respectivel, with the correlation being 89%. The b value indicated anisometric growth pattern for B. luteus and negative allometric growth for C.macrostomum. The condition factor for B. luteus and C. macrostomum in the KarkhehRiver were 0.82 (0.78-0.90) and 0.789(0.556-1.12), respectively.
