Analytical and Numerical Investigation of the Axi-symmetric Extrusion of Bi-metallic Tubes abstract
In this paper, forward extrusion of axi-symmetric bi-metallic tubes through an arbitrary curved die with moving mandrel was investigated. An upper-bound approach was used to analyze the process. A kinematically admissible velocity field in spherical coordinate system is developed to evaluate the internal power and the power dissipated on frictional, velocity discontinuity surfaces, and the total power. Analytical results were compared with the results given by experiments of other researchers and by finite element method (Abaqus software). These comparisons showed a good agreement
