Abstract:

This paper includes the significant lab & on-site experience of authors related to optimizing process parameters of LPG treatment unit and its benefits in phases 2&3 of south pars gas complex . The LPG treatment unit was designed as a closed circuit system with the primary objective removing mercaptanes and othe sulphuric compounds such as COS,CS2&... from liquefied hydrocarbons. because of LPG treatment plant problems and limitation in catalyst providing due to sanctions , it was decided to optimize operating parameters in order to improve reliability of plant and as far as possible reduce catalyst injection to the unit. an investigation was started by process engineering team in close coordination with laboratory. in first step some non routine tests were defined for laboratory team to perform during the test such as mercaptide content of lean caustic, mercaptan and total sulphur content of treated LPG.
