In simplest terms, 5G is the fifth generation of cellular networks. 5G is the next step in mobile technology that future phones and tablets are using, and its speed is comparable to current LTE networks, such as those of 3G networks. The first generation of mobile networks, known as 1G, was introduced around 1982. The system was completely analog until the 2G networks were introduced in 1991 and used the digital system. 2G networks provided mobile data in the form of GPRS and EDGE technologies.
