Abstract:

Atriplex spp. has been used in rage improvement projeci for more than forty years. This plant belonges to Chenopodiaceae family. It is an imported key specie for desertification in aried and semi-arid regions so as in green belt of centeral salt- desert of Efahan, also in deserts and salt-deserts of Ardestan. It is also used for range rehabilition, soil erosion protection and wildlife protection. Although planting these species have had.. desirable <1daptation in Iran. But there are some problems which should be solved like: density of shrubs, the effects of pruning on their production nnd preventation from being wooden (longevity). For this.. in a project had performed in Emamzadeh-Eshagh station of Ardestan district of Esfahan province during 1373-1384. The study took II years. In this trial, the main treatment was planting distance with 3 levels including ~ ~- ~~- -~~-~~~ - '2*2~ 4*4'';'' and 6*6 m; thc -sub-treatment was planting: timc'with-3 -levels induding-once-per'year;-'oncen per two year,and once per three years, and the sub-sub-treatment was cutting. height with 5 levels including control, 0, 20 ,40 , and 60 em. The total of cutting are 9 times for once per year, 4 times for ()nc~ per two years, 3 times for once per three years during the whole duration of the study. coverage area, height, forage production, and percentage of survival of the shrubs were measured in different years throughout of the study. The data were analysized by using the EXCEL and M. State soft wares. The results showed tbat the most forage available production was relatcd to the treatments of 2*2m planting distance, control, and once per two years cUlling, 1708 KglHa dry matter,and the least one, 20 Kg/Ha dry matter, relatcd to treatment of 6*6rn planting distance, zero em and once per year cutting. The treatment of 2*2 planting distance showed a significant difference (P=0.05) to the other treatments in forage available production. The 60cm height cutting showed no any significant difference to control treatment (P=O.05). but 60 cm behight cutting showed a significant difference (P=O.05) to other treatments in forage available. Zero, 20cm height and control cutting showed a significant difference(P=O.05) to the other treatments in percentage of survival.
