Abstract:

Wheat streak mosaic virus (WSMV) is one of the most important cereal viral disease agents. It has a widespread distribution in the world and in Iran. Several different methods have been developed for WSMV control Among these, use of resistant and tolerant genotypes is most economical and sustainable tool. In this project response of several wheat genotypes (some commercial and elite wheat) to a known WSMV isolate (Marvdasht) is evaluated under field and greenhouse conditions. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design. Inoculation were made mechanically at 2-3 leaf stage. Some indices such as Mean disease incidence, disease severity and yeild components were calcuJated and analyzed statistically. Results showed that II Adl Cross " has a complete resistance while "Niknejad" , "4004" and "Chamran" are in tole rent to WSMV isolate used. This is the first report of complete resistance to a WSMV isoJate in the world. Keywords: wheat, wheat streak mosaic virus, resistance, tolerance
