Determination of optimum level fornutrients in pistachio leaf of two commercial cultivars using DOP method in order to balanced fertilization abstract
Different methods have been proposed for the use of leaf analysis results in the diagnosis of nutritional status of the plant including Critical Value Approach (CVA), Suficiency Range (SR),Diagnosis and Recommendation Integrated system (DRIS), Compositional Nutrient Diagnosis (CND) and Deviations from Optimum Percentage (DOP).In this research, a newer and simpler method calleddeviation from optimal percentage (DOP) was used to determine the optimum level of leaf nutrients in pistachio trees of two commercial cultivars of Ahmad Ahaghi and Ohadi (Fandoghi) in Kerman province. The current research was conducted in 247 pistachio orchards with Ahmadaghaee cultivar and 256 orchardswith Oahadi cultivar. Selected pistachio orchards were divided into two groups of high and low yields. In each selected orchard, leaf sampling and dry weight measurement were performed. In the first year in the selected orchards, soil sampling was performed at three depths of 0-40, 40-80 and 120-80 cm. Chemical properties of soil and available amounts of potassium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, manganese and copper were measured. The concentrations of leaf nutrients including nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper, manganese and boron were measured by leaf sampling at the end of July to early August and analyzed in the laboratory. After that, statistical calculations were performed using SPSS statistical software and using the optimal percentage deviation method, the optimum nutrient content was determined in the leaves of two pistachio cultivars.Based on the results of calculations of the deviation of optimal percentage method, the optimum level in Ohadi cultivar in high yielding year (ON) for nitrogen 2.1, phosphorus 0.16, potassium 1.5, calcium 2.5, magnesium 0.8%, iron 110, manganese 45 , Zinc 16, copper 7 and boron 390 μg/g of dry matter, was determined. For this cultivar in low yielding year (Off), the optimum level of nitrogen 1.9, phosphorus 0.17, potassium 1.8, calcium 2.4, magnesium 0.7%, and iron 90, manganese 37, zinc 19, copper 5 and boron 460 μg/g of dry matter was determined. The optimum levels in Ahmad Aghaei cultivar in the ON year for nitrogen 2.5, phosphorus 0.17, potassium 1.8, calcium 8.2, magnesium 1.0%, iron 120, manganese 55, zinc 23, copper 9 and Boron 420 μg/g of dry matter were obtained. InOff year, the optimum levelsfor nitrogen 2.1, phosphorus 0.19, potassium 1.9, calcium 2.5, magnesium 0.8%, iron 90, manganese 45, zinc 26, copper 6 and boron 500 μg/g of dry matter, weredetermined. The results showed that in low-yield orchards with Ohadi cultivar in the high yield year (ON) and with slight differences in the low yield year (Off) among the macronutrients, the order of priority nutrient requirements were phosphorus, potassium, calcium and nitrogen respectively. Furthermore, among the micronutrients, priority was belonged to manganese, zinc and boron, respectively, which all of them had negative index. In Ahmadaghaee cultivar, the priority macronutrient requirements were P, K, N and Ca, respectively and among the micronutrients, priority were zinc, manganese and boron, respectively, with negative index.Key words:Deviation of Optimum Percentage (DOP), Pistachio, Ahamadaghaee cultivar, Ohadi cultivar, Leaf nutrients
