Abstract:

The present study investigated the pesticides residues of 21 compounds including fungicides, insecticides and acaricides in cucurbit products (field and greenhouse cucumber, tomato, eggplant, melon and water melon) in two seasons during 2011-2012 in central Tehran fresh market. In the research pesticides were extracted from samples by using quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe (QuEChERS) method. The samples were analyzed with GC/Mass. In selected samples, during the two studied seasons, greenhouse cucumber, tomato and field greenhouse were the crops with the higher percentages of positive samples, with 12.9, 10.2 and 5.9% respectively. The pesticide residues higher than maximum residue limit (MRL) were 6.3 and 0.05% in melon and watermelon, respectively. In spring season, the highest samples with maximum residue limit were in tomato (11.4%), greenhouse cucumber (10.7%), field cucumber (7.1%) and melon (6.3%)., while in winter season the highest residue was related to greenhouse cucumber (15.1%), tomato (9%), field greenhouse (4.8%). The highest frequency of samples with residue higher than MRL in cucumber was in Khozestan (Dezfoul), field greenhouse (Sar-e- pol zahab), in tomato (Varamin), in melon (Bandar abbas), eggplant (Bandar abbas). In winter season, the highest residue in sampled palces obtained from greenhouse cucumber (Varamin), tomato (Dezfoul), in fiels cucumber ( Bandar abbas) .
