Seismic assessment of steel-sheathed cold-formed steel shear wall panel systems abstract
The seismic performance factors play an important role for the design of seismic-force-resisting systems. In this paper, the response modification coefficient (R factor) of steel-sheathed cold-formed steel shear wall panel (steel-sheathed CFS-SWP) is evaluated. The OpenSees finite element software was used to simulate the nonlinear behaviour of steel-sheathed CFS-SWP with the latest user-defined uniaxial material named CFSSSWP. Nonlinear static pushover and incremental dynamic analyses (IDA) have been conducted on six three- and five-story steel-sheathed CFS-SWP frame archetype buildings designed for different seismic design categories. The IDA results for each archetype building were used to draw fragility curves following the FEMA P695 methodology. The results from assessment meet the acceptance criteria defined in the FEMA P695, which proves the accuracy of the response modification coefficient.
