Abstract:
The earthquake waves reflected by a slope may amplify ground motions in the vicinity of the slope crest and toe. Therefore, the seismic response of a building by considering the effects of topography-soil-structure interaction (TSSI) will be noticeable. In this study, the seismic response of building with 15-storey moment resistance frame at a distance from the crest and toe of slope was investigated using 3D numerical analysis. A nonlinear behavioral model was used for building and soil. Analyzes were performed using 7 recorded earthquakes and final results were presented based on the mean of these records. The results showed that the seismic responses of buildings located at a distance of the slope height from the crest are mostly affected by slope topography. Based on TSSI analysis results, the maximum lateral displacement of the building in the vicinity of the slope crest increased by 1.2 times compared with slope toe. Also in this mode, the maximum base shear force in the building be more than 2.7 times.
