Abstract:
This paper presents results of an analytical continuous wave-based method in the frequency domain for analyzing the wave propagation behavior of a single pile embedded in the soil using an in-house computer program and compares it with the results obtained from finite element beam models. It is assumed that the pile is subjected to the steady-state dynamic loadings, and the surrounding soil is modeled by discrete springs and dashpots. Each spring is treated as a discontinuity along the wave path, which causes the reflection and transmission of incoming waves.
