The effect of addition of Mg to Pt-Sn-K-Ce-Zn/ɣ-Al2O3 in propane dehydrogenation abstract
The effect of the addition of Mg to Pt-Sn-K-Ce-Zn/ɣ-Al2O3 catalyst in order to enhance performance of propanedehydrogenation was investigated and characterized with several analytic techniques, including, TPR, XRF, UV andSEM analysis. The catalysts were prepared by sequential impregnation of ɣ-Al2O3 technique. It was found that additionof Mg to Pt-Sn-K-Ce-Zn/ɣ-Al2O3 can improve the catalytic performance, specially in terms of propane coversion andpropylene selectivity. According to the Characterization analysis, the synergistic effect between Mg and K (bystrengthening the Sn–Al2O3 interaction, stabilize the oxidation states of Sn species and increasing the platinum uptake)was responsible for improvement of catalyst performance
